The AAS 2025 Annual Conference Program Committee seeks proposal submissions for pre-conference workshops. The goal of pre-conference workshops is to provide additional options for attendees outside of the busy conference schedule.
The Call for Pre-conference Workshops will open Monday, August 19 and close Monday, September 16, September 23, 5:00pm ET. (DEADLINE EXTENDED)

GENERAL CALL FOR PROPOSALS (Closed)
The Association for Asian Studies is pleased to issue the Call for Proposals for the AAS 2025 Annual Conference to be held March 13-16, 2025 in Columbus, Ohio at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, Hilton Columbus Downtown, and the Hyatt Regency Columbus.
This portal will collect proposal submissions from Thursday, June 20 through Wednesday, August 7, 2024, 5:00pm Eastern Time (ET). Proposals submitted outside of this portal or emailed directly to the AAS are ineligible and will not be considered for the 2025 AAS Annual Conference Program.

*All accepted Individual Papers will be grouped into a session (organized by the program committee) consisting of other accepted individual papers.
PLEASE NOTE: Proposals remaining incomplete after the deadline date will be withdrawn and will not be reviewed by the committee. Only the original submitter has access to the proposal.

Proposal Preparation in Three Steps:

1. DECIDE ON YOUR PROPOSAL TYPE
- Proposal Types: Review this Call for Proposal and the information regarding the six (6) proposal submission types - Organized Panel, Roundtables, Workshops, Lightning Sessions, Individual Papers or Poster Presentation.
- Participation/application policies: Review the requirements of each proposal type, including the minimum/maximum number of participants, abstract word counts, etc. An individual may participate in up to two sessions total. See the general parameters below:
- An individual may present only one (1) paper at the annual conference.
- For details, see the General Submission Information.
- Diversity requirements: Review the AAS diversity and inclusion submission guidelines to ensure your preparations and final submitted proposal meet the AAS conference standards.

2. PREPARE SUBMISSION MATERIALS
- Develop individual paper/presentation abstracts based on the submission requirements. If submitting an organized panel proposal, the organizer is responsible for collecting and submitting ALL data and information from session proposal participants including paper titles/abstracts, names, and contact information for each participant on the session.
- If applying for the AAS/Luce International Connectivity Travel Grant on behalf of a participant, review the information to ensure the participant qualifies for this travel grant.

3. SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION BY THE POSTED DEADLINE - August 7, 2024
- Do not wait until August 7 to begin the submission process. You may begin the process and save a partially completed application. Once you save your work, edits can be made any time before Wednesday, August 7 at 5pm Eastern time.
